A few weeks back I was in LA at Occidental College. "Oxy" is a highly-selective, top tier national liberal arts college. But, it's beautiful campus is much bigger once you tour it - maybe that's why Hollywood favors it for movie and TV shot locations. When student tour guides mention and point out where many films and TV shows have been shot on campus, the group of prospective students and their parents begin buzzing with conversation. It's an unintentional signature moment.

You might recognize the fountain at Oxy from Star Trek III Search for Spock. It's affectionately know on campus as the "Star Trek fountain.". But, it was great to hear Oxy tour guides tell the story of an Oxy tradition and student signature moment -- on your birthday your friends will toss you into this fountain.
While visiting Oxy I stayed at The Hotel Angeleno a JDV Hospitality boutique hotel. JDV won the 2001 EXPY (Experience Stager of the Year) and they theme their properties using magazines. I believe this hotel is Details meets Los Angeles magazines. And I have to admit it delivered on that experience. I could almost reach out and touch the Getty from my 11th floor balcony.
